Aerospace Engineering SME - CAD & Physics Simulation
Create realistic aerospace design problems, solve them with CAD and physics-simulation tools, and document the complete engineering workflow for AI training and evaluation. Remote, project-based work can pay up to $50/hour depending on the task and demonstrated expertise.
Apply for this role →What you'll do
- Define an original aerospace design problem with a clear objective, measurable success criteria, and realistic engineering constraints.
- Build the design and run reproducible aerodynamic, flight-performance, propulsion, structural, or related simulations using tools such as OpenVSP/VSPAERO, XFoil, OpenFOAM, OpenRocket, or FreeCAD.
- Iterate through multiple design versions and preserve native project files, simulation settings, boundary conditions, intermediate checkpoints, and quantitative results.
- Record and narrate the working session, explaining the engineering decisions, trade-offs, validation approach, and final outcome clearly enough for a verifier engineer to reproduce.
What we look for
- Strong practical aerospace design experience, ideally with approximately 5-10 years of relevant professional, research, or advanced project work.
- Independent experience with CAD and at least one relevant simulation workflow such as CFD, aerodynamic analysis, flight-performance modelling, propulsion, or structural analysis.
- Ability to show verifiable evidence such as a portfolio, publication, thesis, patent, competition project, technical report, or permitted description of industry work.
- Comfortable creating original tasks, recording the workflow, and sharing only work that does not expose confidential employer, university, or client material.
